TAWAAF OR CIRCUMAMBULATION OF HOLY KAABA
Indeed from the huge lessons that benefits the pilgrim is when he reaches the House of ALLAH Almighty and carries out that great act of ibadah (worship) which is Tawaaf (circumambulation) of the House of ALLAH Almighty Al-Haram or Holy Kaaba. All the pilgrims perform Tawaaf (circumambulation) in obedience to ALLAH Almighty and fulfilling His command.
This is especially so when the large masses of Muslims are all dressed in one type of garments and are of uniform appearance, circling the House of ALLAH Almighty. There is none worthy of ibadah (worship) in truth except ALLAH Almighty and ALLAH is the Greatest), supplicating to their Noble Lord, beseeching Him for accomplishment and success.
Every single Pilgrim make Tawaf (circumambulation) of seven circuits, all of them beginning at the Hajr-e-Aswad (black stone) and ending at it and this is what the Tawaf is, going around the Holy Kaaba seven times with the intention of Tawaf, in worship of ALLAH Almighty, starting with the Hajr-e-Aswad (black stone) and ending at it, with the Holy Kaaba on their left hand side. The Muslims do this in obedience to ALLAH Almighty and in imitation of the Messenger of ALLAH Almighty.
Tawwaf (circumambulation) is the first action a Muslim does when he or she reaches Makkah.The evidences in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah showing the legislation of Tawaf of the House of ALLAH Almighty al-Haram or Holy Kaaba are numerous and there are multiple narrations from the Messenger of ALLAH Almighty. This is proof that this action brings one closer to ALLAH Almighty and it is obedience from Allah’s slaves that He loves.
Verse 27-29 of Surah Al-Hajj of Holy Quran;
And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass - That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of ALLAH on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor. Then let them end their untidiness and fulfil their vows and perform Tawaf around the ancient House."
Indeed ALLAH Almighty appointed His Prophet Hazrat Ibraheem (AS), along with his son Hazrat Ismaeel (AS), the Prophet of ALLAH Almighty, to purify the House, construct its foundations and prepare it for those who would perform Tawaf (circumambulation), stand up for prayer, make Rukoo and Sujood, Allaah says in verse 125 of Surah Al-Baqarah:
And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], "Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer]."
